Lots of Problems But Most of Show Went On!
The line-up of bands was a peculiar mix, ranging from the musically superior One Republic to Pop-Rapper Wiz Khalifa & Punk inspired Off-Spring, to rockers like Shinedown, Awol-Nation & Patrick Wolf. Most tastes were probably represented with these bands. I have to admit, I purchased VIP tickets for my teen daughter, who is likely One Republic's biggest fan. It was her 3rd time seeing them, in fact.
On the first day, rain & wind made it very muddy & miserable, but the kids had fun and were exhausted. Reviews of the food in the VIP area were quite poor. Day 2 started with the gates opening at noon as planned, but unfortunately, the main stage had sustained damage from the weather. Consequently, everyone was kept in the main pavilion for over 4 hours while a new, smaller stage was brought in from New Orleans and set up. All bands except the 3 headliners on the main stage were canceled, leading to numerous complaints. That day, my daughter won a meet & greet with One Republic through a Facebook promotion and she was thrilled. However, no pictures or autographs were permitted, which was disappointing as she wanted a tangible memory. The bands experienced audio issues on the small stage, with One Republic even having to borrow Patrick Wolf's bass guitar. The technical difficulties of the day remain unknown. The headliners were restricted to a one-hour set each, which meant not all of One Republic's hits were performed. Nonetheless, by the end of the second day, the event concluded, and the girls returned home content, albeit covered in sweat & mud.
